Richard has a rather unusual way of helping organisations with their business strategy. He has an MBA from London Business School, which gives him full understanding of traditional methods in designing business strategies.
However, Richard has a wealth of skills and knowledge on how data can be mined and applied to the business. So, his approach to business strategy tends to begin with the data and what it can unearth. For example, a traditional approach might be to increase the value of each customer by targeting them with custom offerings. Richard might look at the data and determine that a percentage of the customers are not profitable, and look for opportunities to make them profitable, reduce their unprofitability, or decrease their representation in the customer base. This is not to say that traditional approaches aren’t appropriate. Of course they are, but Richard is able to bring a new perspective and often uncover novel business strategy opportunities using that organisation's data.
